Free Download Of The Week: Whitney

Whitney

After the disbandment of the Smith Westerns in 2014, guitarist Max Kakacek and drummer Julien Ehrlich drifted around the Chicago music scene. Nothing seemed to click for either of them musically, although they were both going through break-ups simultaneously. Finally the two reconnected as roommates. In an attempt to extinguish their demons, Kakacek and Ehrlich had a series of laidback early-morning songwriting sessions. Eventually a third personality appeared in their writing which they called Whitney. Kakacek says, “We were both writing as this one character, and whenever we were stuck, we’d ask, ‘What would Whitney do in this situation?'” Download “No Matter Where We Go” off Light Upon The Lake and learn more about Whitney at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
