Free Download Of The Week: Ty Segall

Ty Segall will release his second self-titled album Friday. “‘Orange Color Queen’ is a love song for my girlfriend, Denée,” Segall says. “I’ve written her many, but I think this is my favorite. I travel around the world for a living and have developed a slight fear of flying. She’s one of the things that makes it better for me to travel. Especially when she is with me. She has orange hair, and is my orange color queen. I rarely write songs like this, because it is so easy to sound disingenuous, but I think this one is pretty good.” Download “Orange Color Queen” off Ty Segall and learn more about Ty Segall at his Official Website, “Like” him on Facebook and follow him on Twitter.

Free Download Of The Week: Strand Of Oaks

Hard Love, Tim Showalter’s latest release as Strand of Oaks, is a record that explores the balancing act between overindulgence and accountability. Recounting Showalter’s decadent tour experiences, his struggling marriage, and the near death of his younger brother, the album emanates an unabashed, raw, and manic energy that embodies both the songs and the songwriter behind them. “For me,” Showalter says “there are always two forces at work: the side that’s constantly on the hunt for the perfect song, and the side that’s naked in the desert screaming at the moon. It’s about finding a place where neither side is compromised, only elevated.” Download “Radio Kids” off Hard Love and learn more about Strand Of Oaks at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

Free Download Of The Week: Matt Pond PA

Singer-songwriter Matt Pond is the driving force behind the band Matt Pond PA. This past November, the band released their eleventh album Winter Lives. The record is a bold celebration of what blooms in the coldest, stillest time of the year. By now, fans of the band are not unfamiliar with the enduring love affair Pond’s lyrics and arrangements have with his shift-shaping environment: an embodiment of the season, the beauty in a prosaic exchange, the weight of expectation and hope, a moment that says a kiss is not a promise. But it can be something close to the truth. Download “Whoa” off Winter Lives and learn more about Matt Pond PA at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
