About Food Rescue: The K-12 Food Rescue Program is in more than 500 schools nationwide-400 in Indiana alone. K-12 Food Rescue pairs schools with food pantries and shelters to recover the estimated 1 billion unopened, unpeeled, and unwanted food items from student trays annually. While feeding families instead of landfills, they are teaching kids that food is not trash. Through their education program, K-12 Food Rescue is empowering kids to tackle seemingly insurmountable issues like food waste and hunger, showing them they can in fact change the world.
