WTTS Free download of the week – real estate

The past year of lockdown and self-isolation might just be the longest time that the band Real Estate has ever spent off the road and away from each other, on Friday the will release their new EP, Half a Human. A collection of songs created between two different worlds. While the architecture of each was constructed during sessions for their 2020 album, The Main Thing, the tracks came to life when vocalist/guitarist Martin Courtney, bassist/vocalist Alex Bleeker, keyboardist Matt Kallman and guitarist Julian Lynch began trading the material back and forth remotely throughout the pandemic. Free Download of the week: son lux

Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang and have announced the third and final part of Son Lux‘s Tomorrows series which will be out April 16 via City Slang. Throughout the three records, Son Lux have been looking to ways of moving beyond the traditional album rollout, making room for both more traditional songs and experimental, atmospheric forms. The Hold Steady have released a new record: Open Door Policy is out via the band’s Positive Jams label and Thirty Tigers. Frontman Craig Finn said “Open Door Policy was very much approached as an album vs. a collection of individual songs, and it feels like our most musically expansive record. This album was written and almost entirely recorded before the pandemic started, but the songs and stories explore power, wealth, mental health, technology, capitalism, consumerism, and survival–issues which have compounded in 2020″

Free Download of the Week: Lo Talker

Athens, Georgia, band Lo Talker will release their debut album, A Comedy Of Errors, on March 19, 2021. Andrew Shepard, vocalist and songwriter, says “I wrote ‘Don’t Hide That Light’ to try and remind myself that just because the world around me has plunged into a new level of insanity, it doesn’t mean I have to follow suit.”
